Our HistoryIn the beginning...Resurrection College was originally built and continues to be operated by the Priests, Deacons and Brothers of the Congregation of the Resurrection who live their religious lives in the Roman Catholic tradition. Their religious community actually began in France on February 17, 1836, under the leadership of Bogdan Janski, a lay person. His co-founders, two priests, were Peter Semenenko and Jerome Kasiewicz. From the beginning, these men and their followers were committed to the care of parishes (local churches) and to the education of youth. Many of the Resurrectionists have been educators, teaching in high schools, colleges and universities. The Resurrectionists were the founders of St. Jerome's College (now St. Jerome's University). Today...Today the members of the Canadian group of the Congregation of the Resurrection (CR's) work in Parishes, Universities, Pastoral Care, Social Justice Ministries, Spiritual Direction, Chaplaincies and many other ministries. They are a vibrant group of men who are committed to living as compassionate, competent and enthusiastic animators of God's people. The Charism statement of the Congregation of the Resurrection today says: "we believe that God's love for us is merciful and unfailing... We believe that God calls us to work together for the resurrection of society, bringing his life and love to all... This also requires that we build, and teach others to build, a Christian community in which all can experience the hope, joy and peace of Christ's resurrection." Resurrection College fits in...Resurrection College is a welcoming community that offers residence to men and women in the spirit of the Resurrectionists.
